GREEN BUSINESS SUMMIT - 2004

"Resource Sustainability - Closing The Materials Loop"

With globalization and the need for cost competitiveness, Green concepts are seen as one of the drivers for sustained business growth and increased competitiveness.

The conventional model of industrial development is based on end-of-the-pipe solutions and steps to minimize environmental impacts. Eco-efficiency (concepts of reduce, reuse, recycle & regulate) leads to enhanced economic benefits, but is not a strategy for sustained growth.

There is now a paradigm shift towards Eco-effectiveness. This eliminates the concept of waste altogether & transforms industries into sustainable enterprises, by avoidance/ reduction of waste treatment costs. Many large corporate have realized significant cost savings and reduced environmental impacts by adopting this revolutionary new approach.

Creating a sustainable future requires organizations, governments, society and individuals to rethink how we use our resources and how we interact with the environment.

Addressing these issues and ushering in a regenerative, powerful force of positive change, is the Green Business Summit 2004 at Hotel Taj Krishna, Hyderabad from 21-23 September 2004.

The Green Business Summit is a flagship event of the CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (CII-Godrej GBC), Hyderabad , on green businesses.

The objectives of organizing this event are to disseminate information on latest trends & technologies and demonstrate the viability & benefits of green technologies, products and services.

UNIDO is partnering with CII in organising this summit to promote the cause of resource sustainability. This is the first in a series of events that UNIDO is planning to organize worldwide, on this theme.

he theme of this summit is “Resource Sustainability - Closing the Materials Loop” to convey the message that adopting concepts such as “Cradle-to-Cradle”,
